How to find the right mover on the internet
Finding the right mover on the internet is no small task. If you are like most people, you are likely to begin your search with terms like “affordable movers in the fraser valley”, or “moving companies in burnaby bc” or “self storage in surrey” – depending on what you are looking for your search results will likely be in the thousands – if not hundreds of thousands.
To help narrow your choice down the best 3 to 5 moving companies we have devised a 4 point plan:
- Avoid the paid advertising at the top of your google results pages. These spots are reserved for paid advertisers – and are not in the top 3 results due to popularity. They have paid to be at the top of that page and even if they have a horrible reputation they can pay to stay in that top spot.
- Review the company’s website. Are they members of the BBB? If they claim to be, look them up on the BBB website and make sure they are in good standing.
- Does the site shows a lot of “stock photography” such as actors or models smiling for the camera? Free pictures and other resources available on the internet make it easy to give the illusion of a legitimate business. Stick to moving companies whose website shows pictures of real company moving trucks, complete with real moving staff, company t-shirts, biographies and company history.
- Is the company contact information clearly listed on the website or is there only an online form to fill out? If there is no company contact information such as a telephone number or address visible on the website- avoid it.
The convenience the internet has given us is wonderful – in less than 30 seconds you can have your choice of thousands of moving companies listed before you. As long as you combine a little bit of common sense with caution you should have no problem selecting the top 3 to 5 moving companies in the lower mainland.
